马库斯-奥勒留-努梅里乌斯-卡鲁斯大约于公元224年出生在高卢的纳尔博。

接下来，卡鲁斯计划再接再厉，进一步攻入波斯人的领地。 但是，卡鲁斯突然死了。 当时大约是七月底，皇帝的营地靠近凯蒂法恩。 卡鲁斯被发现死在他的帐篷里。 当时有一场雷雨，他的死亡被解释为他的帐篷被雷电击中。 这是神明对他的惩罚。试图将帝国推向其合法的边界之外。
