为了庆祝这一事件,皇帝的长子卡里努斯被宣布为奥古斯都,他在卡里努斯不在的时候负责管理帝国的西部。

接下来,卡鲁斯计划再接再厉,进一步攻入波斯人的领地。 但是,卡鲁斯突然死了。 当时大约是七月底,皇帝的营地靠近凯蒂法恩。 卡鲁斯被发现死在他的帐篷里。 当时有一场雷雨,他的死亡被解释为他的帐篷被雷电击中。 这是神明对他的惩罚。试图将帝国推向其合法的边界之外。
