马库斯-安东尼斯-戈尔迪安努斯的母亲是戈尔迪安一世的女儿和戈尔迪安二世的妹妹，这使得戈尔迪安三世成为这两位戈尔迪安皇帝的孙子和侄子。

随着波斯人的抵抗逐渐减弱，人们考虑进一步进入美索不达米亚，并夺取首都克提丰。 但在公元243年的冬天，泰西提斯被疾病征服并去世。
